Jeremiah Smith’s incredible touchdown catch against the Michigan Wolverines not only impressed fans but also caught the attention of basketball legend LeBron James. The Los Angeles Lakers star took to social media to celebrate Smith’s touchdown and wish him a happy birthday.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), James expressed his excitement by writing, “TD 4!!!! Happy Bday too Young 🤴🏾🙌🏾”, giving Smith his seal of approval.

The touchdown by Smith sparked controversy during a heated Week 14 game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines. Initially, it appeared to be a go-ahead touchdown in the second quarter. However, Smith was hit just before crossing the goal line by Wolverines’ defensive back Brandyn Hillman, causing the football to be momentarily dislodged. Despite the contentious play, the touchdown was eventually awarded after a lengthy review process, leading to backlash from Michigan fans both at the stadium and on social media.

LeBron James had previously praised Jeremiah Smith for his exceptional talent during a game against the Penn State Nittany Lions. In a tweet, James exclaimed, “MAN WHAT JEREMIAH SMITH!!!!!!! INSANE TALENT.” Smith, a key player for the Ohio State Buckeyes, had already accumulated impressive stats before the game against the Wolverines, with 69 catches, 902 receiving yards, and ten touchdowns.

Smith’s remarkable performances have placed him in the Heisman Trophy running this season and have positioned him as a potential No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2027 NFL draft. Alongside his teammate Julian Sayin, Smith aims to lead the Buckeyes to back-to-back national championships under head coach Ryan Day. The Buckeyes are currently unbeaten in regular-season play and are favored to claim the national title this season.

As the Buckeyes continue their quest for a national championship, Smith’s exceptional abilities on the field will undoubtedly play a crucial role in their success.
