The Philadelphia Eagles and their quarterback Jalen Hurts are facing a tough situation as they navigate through a recent crisis. The team’s offense has been struggling, leading to consecutive losses. Former Eagles center Jason Kelce has voiced his opinion, suggesting that Hurts should utilize his running abilities more to give the offense an edge.

Kelce, who retired in March 2024 after a remarkable 13-year career with Philadelphia, believes that quarterback runs can make a significant difference in the team’s performance. Hurts, now in his fifth season as the Eagles’ starting quarterback, has the skills to excel in this area.

“It’s an unquestioned advantage to be able to do quarterback runs,” Kelce expressed in an interview with SportsRadio 94WIP. “I would like to see them do more (quarterback) runs, I’m not going to lie. You get such better angles, the numbers are better, it makes life easy. It’s almost like cheating. And it’s been a big reason why the Eagles have been successful on the ground game throughout Hurts’ tenure.”

The Eagles started the season strong, averaging 28.4 points per game in their first eight matchups. However, their offensive production has dipped to 19.5 points over the last four games, highlighting the need for adjustments.

During a recent four-game stretch, Hurts faced significant pressure, taking a total of 14 sacks. This included a challenging game against the Chicago Bears where the Eagles fell short with a 24-15 loss. Hurts has been working on improving his connection with wide receiver DeVonta Smith, acknowledging some issues in their coordination on the field.

Offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, who is new to calling plays at the NFL level, is tasked with guiding the Eagles’ offense this season. The absence of right tackle Lane Johnson in the Bears game due to injury further compounded the team’s challenges.

Looking ahead, the Eagles will be looking to bounce back as they face the LA Chargers on Monday at SoFi Stadium. The upcoming matchup presents an opportunity for Hurts and the team to regroup and showcase their potential on the field.

As the Eagles navigate through this rough patch, the support and guidance from experienced players like Kelce will be crucial in finding solutions and turning the tide in their favor. Stay tuned for more updates on the Philadelphia Eagles’ journey in the NFL.
