Man Sentenced to Prison for Throwing Naked Woman to Her Death
A man accused of throwing a naked woman to her death from his Uptown apartment window has received a five-year prison sentence after being found guilty of involuntary manslaughter.
42-year-old Tyson Tillman was initially charged with murder in the July 2022 death of 31-year-old Tabitha Tanner. Prosecutors alleged that he threw Tanner from his fifth-floor window after his girlfriend arrived home.
Surveillance footage showed Tillman arriving at his building on North Magnolia around 10:09 p.m. on the night of the incident, with his girlfriend entering the building 38 minutes later. Neighboring doorbell cameras captured her pacing the hallway for at least ten minutes before Tanner’s body was seen falling into an alley at 10:59 p.m.
Following the incident, Tillman left his apartment wearing a red shirt, and footage showed someone in a red shirt checking on Tanner’s body at 11:03 p.m. A passerby discovered Tanner’s body hours later and alerted authorities.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Tanner died from injuries sustained in a fall, including a broken leg, facial trauma, and a lacerated heart.
Initially denying any involvement, Tillman later admitted to a physical altercation with Tanner in his apartment, during which she fell from the window. A recording from an officer’s body-worn camera captured Tillman allegedly admitting, “I threw the b***h out the window.”
Tillman, who has been in custody since his arrest, received credit for the time served in jail, more than enough to satisfy his prison term. The case was handled by Judge Michael Clancy, who sentenced Tillman.
