How Would Matt Remick React to Netflix Buying Warner Bros. and HBO Max?

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, executive producers of the Emmy-winning Apple TV comedy “The Studio,” recently shared their thoughts on how their fictional studio executive, played by Rogen in the series, would react to the industry-jolting news of Netflix acquiring Warner Bros. and HBO Max. According to Rogen, their character would be filled with dread and fear, assuming that a successful studio wouldn’t be sold off to a tech company.

Rogen and Goldberg, speaking at the 18th annual National Arts and Entertainment Awards in Los Angeles, expressed their own reactions to the $82.7 billion deal. While Rogen dismissed the idea with a firm “Absolutely not,” Goldberg playfully suggested that AMC, the world’s largest exhibition chain, should consider buying the conglomerate instead.

Goldberg’s offbeat proposal reflects the industry’s concern over Netflix potentially altering the traditional film release model, shrinking the exhibition windows for Warner Bros. releases. He believes that AMC’s acquisition would be a surprising move, completely opposite to Netflix’s disruptive nature.

The duo’s insights provide a glimpse into the mixed reactions within the entertainment industry to this monumental acquisition. As the deal unfolds, it remains to be seen how studios, exhibitors, and content creators will navigate this new landscape.

Stay tuned for more updates.
