Fal Raises $140 Million in Series D Funding Led by Sequoia
Fal, a startup that specializes in hosting image, video, and audio AI models for developers, has recently announced a successful Series D funding round. The funding, totaling $140 million, was led by Sequoia and saw participation from prominent investors such as Kleiner Perkins, Nvidia, and existing backers like Andreessen Horowitz.
This latest round marks Fal’s third fundraising effort this year and has significantly boosted the company’s valuation to $4.5 billion. This valuation represents a substantial increase from the $125 million Series C funding round held in July, as reported by Bloomberg.
In October, JS revealed that Fal had secured a new round of funding from investors like Sequoia and Kleiner Perkins, pushing its valuation above $4 billion. Sources indicated that the funding amount was around $250 million, but the actual capital raised was $140 million, with existing investors also participating in a secondary sale of shares, according to sources familiar with the deal.
Fal’s core offering lies in providing the essential infrastructure for multimodal AI solutions to a diverse range of customers, including industry giants like Adobe, Shopify, Canva, and Quora. Co-founded in 2021 by Burkay Gur, a former machine learning leader at Coinbase, and Gorkem Yurtseven, a former developer at Amazon, the company has already achieved over $200 million in revenue by October, as reported by Bloomberg.
