Amazon to Introduce Rush Pickup Service for Customers

Dec 11 (Reuters) – Amazon is reportedly working on a new “rush” pickup service that will allow customers to collect their orders from its stores within an hour. This initiative is part of the company’s efforts to enhance customer convenience and offer a seamless shopping experience. Business Insider cited an internal document and a source familiar with the matter in its report on Thursday.

The feature is designed to enable shoppers to place a “unified” order that combines items from Amazon’s online store and its physical outlets. This integration aims to streamline the shopping process and provide customers with more options for receiving their purchases.

Retailers across the industry are increasingly focusing on quick-delivery models to meet the growing demand for instant commerce. Amazon’s rush pickup service is expected to cater to this trend and offer customers a faster and more convenient way to receive their orders.

According to Business Insider, Amazon plans to launch a pilot program for the rush pickup service in at least one metropolitan area by early 2026. However, the timeline for the rollout may have changed since the initial report.

Amazon has not yet responded to a request for comment from Reuters regarding the new service. The company has been actively exploring ways to improve its delivery options and enhance the overall shopping experience for its customers.

Earlier this month, Amazon announced the testing of “Amazon Now,” an ultra-fast delivery service for household essentials and fresh groceries in select areas like Seattle and Philadelphia. This initiative is part of the company’s broader strategy to offer more efficient and convenient delivery options to its customers.

In August, Amazon introduced same-day delivery for perishable groceries to its Prime subscribers. The service was initially available in over 1,000 U.S. cities, with plans to expand to 2,300 cities by the end of the year. This move reflects Amazon’s commitment to providing fast and reliable delivery services to its customers nationwide.
