A horrifying acid attack in Georgia left a woman with severe burns to her face and body after a stranger doused her with a toxic chemical while she was walking in a park. The victim, Ashley Wasielewski, 46, was taking a leisurely stroll around Forsyth Park in Savannah after attending a Christmas program at a nearby church when the attacker approached her from behind and poured the corrosive liquid over her head.

The attack was described as random and senseless, with Wasielewski experiencing excruciating pain as the chemical burned her skin, melted her clothing, and even damaged her car key fob in her pocket. Her friend Connor Milam recounted how she initially thought it was water being poured on her before realizing the severity of the situation.

The aftermath of the attack left Wasielewski with second- and third-degree burns covering half of her body, including her face, scalp, hands, and legs. She was rushed to the Augusta Burn Center for treatment, where she continues to receive medical care for her injuries. Her son, Westley, was informed of the attack by a good Samaritan who came to his mother’s aid, and he could hear her screams of pain over the phone.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, as Wasielewski is known as a kind and generous person with no known enemies. Authorities are working diligently to identify the assailant and determine the type of chemical used in the attack. Surveillance footage captured a person of interest wearing blue jeans and a dark hooded sweatshirt with a white cartoon rabbit, but no arrests have been made yet.

Savannah Mayor Van Johnson assured the public that the police are treating the case with the utmost urgency and that there is no indication of a broader threat to the community. Extra patrols have been deployed to city parks as a precautionary measure. The incident has shocked the local community and sparked fear and concern for public safety in the area.

The vicious and unprovoked nature of the attack has left Wasielewski and her loved ones traumatized, as they struggle to comprehend the senseless violence that has altered her life forever. The search for justice and closure continues as authorities work tirelessly to bring the perpetrator to justice and prevent such heinous acts from happening again.
