Singer Selena’s Father Dead at 86

Abraham Isaac Quintanilla Jr., the father of the late Tejano music icon Selena, has passed away at the age of 86.
His son, A.B. Quintanilla III, shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram Saturday morning, posting a photo of his father and confirming the sad news of his passing.
The cause of his death has not been disclosed at this time. The Quintanilla family has been contacted for a statement but has not responded yet.
Fans will remember Quintanilla Jr. as a pivotal figure in Selena’s life and career, having managed her and protected her legacy following her tragic death in 1995 at the hands of Yolanda SaldĂvar.
Quintanilla Jr. once reflected on his daughter’s trusting nature, contrasting it with his own upbringing in the streets. Despite his initial concerns, he guided and protected his children, including Selena, throughout their lives.
He also mentioned Selena’s love for children and speculated that she would have had a family of her own if she were still alive. At the time of her passing, Selena was married to Chris PĂ©rez.
Quintanilla Jr. recounted the pivotal moment when he introduced Selena to a record label in San Antonio in the documentary “Selena y Los Dinos,” highlighting the skepticism initially faced due to Selena’s age and gender. However, her talent shone through, leading to a successful music career.
Abraham Quintanilla Jr. was married to Marcella Quintanilla and is survived by their daughter, Suzette Quintanilla.
