The EarthX conference, based in Dallas, has been a beacon of hope for 15 years, bringing together a diverse range of stakeholders to address climate change. From fossil fuel executives to environmental activists, and from Republican policymakers to Democratic climate advocates, EarthX has created a space where common ground can be found.

At the core of EarthX’s mission are three key stakeholders: the corporate world, policymakers, and investors looking for environmentally-conscious startups. CEO Peter Simek believes that reframing the conversation around climate action is essential. Instead of focusing on doomsday scenarios, EarthX emphasizes shared values such as stewardship, economic opportunity, and love of the land.

Simek recognizes that crisis messaging alone is not enough to motivate action. By shifting the narrative to focus on clean air, clean water, and the protection of our natural spaces, EarthX aims to appeal to a broader audience. Simek points out that environmental protection has bipartisan roots, citing the EPA and the Clean Air and Clean Water Act, both passed during the Nixon administration.

EarthX’s approach also emphasizes bottom-up action, recognizing that states, cities, and private capital can drive change faster than federal mandates. Simek highlights Texas as a leader in renewable energy deployment, driven by the economic benefits of wind and solar power. The upcoming EarthX Institute event in 2026 will focus on policy priorities such as nuclear energy and urban biodiversity, areas where bipartisan consensus is growing.

While the impact of conversations at EarthX remains to be seen, Simek is focused on tangible results. By tracking investments, building coalitions, and incubating policies at the local level, EarthX aims to create real change. Simek stresses the importance of finding common ground and values when discussing nature and the environment, bridging divides and driving meaningful action.
