Selma Blair, who portrayed Cecile Caldwell in the 1999 film “Cruel Intentions,” recently revealed that she was never asked to make a cameo in the upcoming TV series adaptation on Amazon Prime Video. Despite not being approached for a cameo, Blair expressed her excitement to see the series and hinted at the possibility of a surprise appearance in the future.

The original movie, based on the classic novel “Dangerous Liaisons,” featured a star-studded cast including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Reese Witherspoon. In the film, Cecile falls for her cello instructor, played by Sean Patrick Thomas, who will be appearing in the new series as Professor Hank Chadwick.

The upcoming “Cruel Intentions” series follows the lives of students at Manchester College, a university near Washington, D.C., where two step-siblings navigate a cutthroat social hierarchy. The story takes a dark turn when a hazing incident threatens the Panhellenic system, leading the characters to resort to extreme measures to maintain power and reputation.

The cast of the series includes Sarah Catherine Hook, Zac Burgess, Savannah Lee Smith, Sara Silva, John Harlan Kim, Khobe Clarke, and Brooke Lena Johnson. With a talented ensemble, the show promises to deliver drama, intrigue, and suspense to viewers.

In terms of advice for the new cast, Blair kept it simple: “Enjoy every minute and be on time — and know your lines!” These words of wisdom reflect her experience in the industry and serve as valuable guidance for aspiring actors.

Produced by Sony Pictures TV, Amazon MGM Studios, and Original Film, the “Cruel Intentions” series is helmed by co-showrunners and executive producers Sara Goodman and Phoebe Fisher. Original film director Roger Kumble, along with Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty, will also serve as executive producers on the project.
