The Denver District Attorney’s Office has announced that the man responsible for the tragic deaths of two individuals on a Denver bike trail in 2023 has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Tanner Ray Fielder was convicted by a Denver jury in October on two counts of first-degree murder for the fatal shootings on the South Platte River Trail.

Fielder was arrested in September 2023 after the police linked him to the deaths of Lluvia Robles-Banuelos, 31, and Jeremy Hutcheson, 43, who were found dead on the trail just days apart. Robles-Banuelos was discovered on September 6 under Interstate 70 near North Washington Street, while Hutcheson was found on September 9 near the intersection of South Platte River Drive and West Florida Avenue.

Denver District Attorney John Walsh expressed his sentiments on the sentencing, stating, “Their deaths were a senseless tragedy.” He further emphasized that Fielder’s life imprisonment ensures the safety of the Denver community.

The mandatory sentence for first-degree murder in Colorado is life in prison without parole. Stay updated on crime news by signing up to receive daily updates straight to your inbox.
