Republican VP Nominee JD Vance Criticizes Biden-Harris Administration Over School Lunches Controversy
HARRISBURG, Pa. — JD Vance, the Republican Vice Presidential Nominee, voiced his concerns on Saturday about President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris holding free school lunches hostage due to the federal funds being withheld from schools that oppose transgender students participating in girls sports.
Vance strongly opposes allowing biological males to compete in sports with biological females, stating, “I think it’s crazy to allow biological males to compete in sports with biological females.”
He criticized the administration for potentially depriving poor children of food because of their stance on transgender policies, emphasizing the importance of not letting political agendas impact essential services like school lunches.
Vance’s remarks were made during a town hall event at Harrisburg’s Rock Church, where he discussed various education policies with Senior Pastor Joshua C. Robertson.
Robertson, a proponent of school choice, focused the conversation on the importance of educational options in addressing societal issues.
Vance, drawing from his own background in Appalachia, highlighted the benefits of school vouchers in driving progress in public education, especially in urban areas.
He emphasized the positive impact of increased school choice on both private and public schools, pushing institutions to improve when faced with competition.
Furthermore, Vance stressed the importance of education in social mobility and longevity, noting the significant life expectancy gap between individuals with and without a bachelor’s degree.
He underlined the disparity, stating, “If you don’t go to college, you die seven years sooner… That’s a real division. That’s a real problem.”
