Miguel Arzabe’s upcoming exhibition, “Sin Contar Cincuenta,” at Johansson Projects showcases his innovative approach to art. Arzabe’s process begins with painting abstract pieces, which are then sliced into strips and woven together to create dynamic compositions. Drawing inspiration from his Bolivian heritage and Andean imagery, Arzabe’s work combines traditional art practices with a contemporary twist.

The exhibition features a collection of wall works and suspended sculptures that embody Arzabe’s concept of a “productive confrontation” between different cultures, approaches, and time periods. Through his art, Arzabe explores the idea of harmoniously coexisting differences, creating spaces where diverse elements come together in unity.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is “La Bahía de Niebla,” a woven acrylic piece that captures the dense opacity of Bay Area fog. Another striking artwork is “Isla del Lago,” which evokes the image of an atoll stretching across the canvas. These pieces reflect Arzabe’s connection to place and his exploration of vast landscapes and weather patterns.

“Sin Contar Cincuenta” will be on display from January 17 to March 21 in Oakland. To see more of Miguel Arzabe’s work, you can visit his Instagram profile. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience Arzabe’s unique blend of tradition and innovation in this thought-provoking exhibition.
