Amy Benson

Amy Benson, a senior student at Te Kura o Tititea Mount Aspiring College, is a dedicated skier who also values her academics.

The 17-year-old is currently focusing on preparing for her end-of-year exams in various subjects such as English, Spanish, music, maths, chemistry, and physics.

After completing her exams, she plans to attend university next year, although she has not yet decided on a specific institution.

‘‘I enjoy the challenges that come with studying different subjects and believe that the learning experiences I gain are more valuable than the specific content,’’ she explained.

‘‘Expanding my knowledge in various areas is my main goal during my high school education.’’

Outside of school, Amy enjoys skiing and mountain biking, but she also values personal learning experiences such as reading and engaging in interesting conversations.

Achievements

Throughout her time at Mount Aspiring College, Amy has been involved in various activities and achievements such as the Sustainability Committee, Classical Chamber Group, Senior Jazz Band, grade 7 clarinet, participation in the New Zealand Free Ride Tour, and earning NCEA levels with excellence.

Role Model

Amy does not have a specific role model.

Future Plans

Her future plans include continuing her studies at university and pursuing further academic and personal growth.

Josh Moody

With a passion for puzzle-solving and a love for science, 18-year-old Josh Moody has always known that his career path would involve engineering.

“I have always been drawn to careers that involve problem-solving and science, which is why engineering is the perfect fit for me,” Josh shared.

After spending time living overseas and witnessing different parts of the world, Josh developed a desire to give back to his community and contribute globally, leading him to pursue a diploma of humanitarian engineering at the University of Canterbury.

Josh is excited to begin his bachelor of engineering with honours next year and dreams of working for the United Nations to make a positive impact on a global scale.

His parents, Bee and Mike, have been a source of inspiration and support for Josh, instilling in him the value of pursuing a rewarding career that makes a difference.

As an accomplished triathlete, Josh spends his winters training for upcoming races and hopes to compete in prestigious events such as the Oceania Triathlon Junior Championships and the elite race at the Oceania Triathlon Cup Wānaka.

Achievements

Josh has excelled in various areas, including being the Head of the Academic Committee, House Leader, winning awards in triathlons, and achieving academic success in subjects like physics and biology.

Role Models

Josh looks up to his parents, Mike and Bee Moody, as role models for their dedication and support.

Future Aspirations

His future goals include completing his engineering degree and competing in elite triathlon competitions.
