Stephen Colbert, the host of the “Late Show,” recently shared his thoughts on the possibility of running for president in 2028.

During Slate’s “Political Gabfest” 20th anniversary show, Colbert, 61, humorously dismissed the idea of a presidential bid, stating that he would need to consult with his faith leader and family before considering a greater service to the nation after his tenure on the “Late Show” ends in May.

With a career spanning over two decades on late-night television, Colbert is preparing for the final stretch of his time on the CBS show following its unexpected cancellation earlier this year.

The decision to cancel the show came shortly after Colbert criticized Paramount for settling a lawsuit with President Donald Trump, leading to Paramount’s merger with Skydance.

Despite CBS citing financial reasons for the cancellation, many viewed it as politically motivated. Colbert, known for his critiques of the president, acknowledged the speculation but refrained from commenting further.

In a recent interview with E! News, Colbert expressed his gratitude for the time he has left on the “Late Show” and vowed to make the most of it.

As he approaches the end of his late-night run, Colbert remains focused on delivering quality content and cherishing the time he has with his team.
