The Golf League (TGL) is gearing up for its second season, set to begin on December 28 with a thrilling match between the New York Golf Club and Atlanta Drive GC. The defending champions, Atlanta Drive GC, will face off against the New York Golf Club in what promises to be an exciting showdown filled with talent and competition.
One of the major changes in the upcoming season of TGL is the renovation of the SoFi Center’s Green Zone. The Green Zone has been expanded by 38 percent, now measuring a substantial 5,270 square feet, almost equivalent to the average size of a green on the PGA Tour. Additionally, there are now 12 hole placements in the Green Zone, doubling the previous number from the inaugural season.
In another significant update, the Green Zone’s bunkers have undergone a transformation. The smallest bunker has been removed, while the remaining two have been enlarged by 50 percent, adding a new challenge for the players.
The first season of TGL featured a set of golf holes that were well-received by players and fans alike. Six of these holes have been updated to incorporate more terrain specific to the area, with each of these holes now serving as official Team Holes for the six competing teams in the league.
The SoFi Center’s grass hitting areas have been expanded to enhance players’ divot management, while the bunker sand hitting box now features an adjustable lip for varying difficulty levels in fairway bunker shots.
In response to feedback from spectators, TGL will be providing complimentary earbuds to those in the stands, allowing them to listen to player commentary or tune into the live broadcast for an enhanced viewing experience.
The first match of TGL Season 2 will feature defending champions Atlanta Drive GC facing off against the New York Golf Club. Players like Patrick Cantlay, Lucas Glover, and Billy Horschel will represent Atlanta Drive GC, while Cameron Young, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Xander Schauffele will compete for the New York Golf Club.
Each team will have a designated Team Hole for the match, with Atlanta Drive GC’s Team Hole being the Fore-O-Fore, and New York Golf Club’s Team Hole being the Big Apple. Three new holes, Stinger, Fore-O-Fore, and Cenote, will also make their debut in TGL Season 2, adding to the excitement and challenge of the competition.
As TGL Season 2 kicks off, fans can expect a thrilling display of golfing talent and fierce competition between the top teams in the league. Stay tuned for more updates and action-packed matches throughout the season.
