The Vegas Golden Knights faced a tough night as goaltender Carter Hart was pulled from the game against the Minnesota Wild after allowing five goals on just 12 shots. The early exit of Hart sparked strong reactions from fans across the NHL.

Hart was removed from the game early in the second period as the Golden Knights fell behind by five goals. Akira Schmid replaced him and performed well, stopping every shot he faced thereafter. Despite a late push back from the Golden Knights, the early deficit proved too much to overcome, and they ultimately lost the game 5-2.

However, the reactions online went beyond just analyzing the box score. Social media platforms quickly filled with sharp comments, with some tying Hart’s poor performance to his off-ice past.

One fan wrote, “It’s called KARMA, and it’s pronounced ‘haha f*** you’,” attaching a text card to emphasize their point. Another user commented, “Send him to the ECHL or hell,” while another simply stated, “PUCK NEVER LIES.”

Fans also questioned Vegas’ roster decisions, with some pointing out Hart’s career struggles even before his legal issues. One user mentioned, “Even with the controversy, did people really expect him to be impressive? He lost his starter job before the charges were filed.” Another fan added, “Not sure why they brought Hart in at all. Akira was doing pretty good before Hart showed up.”

Hart’s NHL return has been surrounded by controversy due to his connection to the 2018 Hockey Canada World Junior sexual assault case. In early 2024, Hart was charged alongside several other former players in relation to an alleged incident that occurred after a Hockey Canada gala in London, Ontario. However, Hart was later acquitted, clearing him of any wrongdoing and allowing him to continue his professional career.

On the ice, five different Minnesota players scored against Hart on the night. The Wild wasted no time getting on the board, with Marcus Johansson scoring just 26 seconds into the game. Matt Boldy added to the lead in the first period, making it 2-0 heading into the first intermission.

The Wild continued their dominance in the second period, with goals from Jared Spurgeon, Brock Faber, and Joel Eriksson Ek extending their lead to 5-0 and ultimately ending Hart’s night in goal. The Golden Knights managed to score two goals late in the game through Brayden McNabb and Mark Stone, but it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback.

In conclusion, the game was a tough outing for Carter Hart and the Vegas Golden Knights, with fans expressing a mix of disappointment and frustration both on and off the ice. Despite the loss, the team will look to regroup and bounce back in their next game.
