CNN’s Harry Enten revealed on Monday that Vice President JD Vance is leading the pack in the potential Republican field for the 2028 GOP presidential primaries.
Although Vance has not officially announced his bid for 2028, he is the preferred choice among likely voters in New Hampshire’s Republican primary with 51% support, according to a University of New Hampshire Granite State poll conducted in October.
In the same poll, Vance is ahead of other potential candidates like former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley (9%) and National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard (8%).
Enten pointed out that winning the GOP primary in New Hampshire often leads to becoming the Republican nominee for president. He compared Vance to racing legend Mario Andretti and described the rest of the field as go-kart drivers.
According to Enten, Vance is making history by being the only non-sitting president for the Republican Party since 1980 to surpass 50% in early New Hampshire primary polling.
“JD Vance is achieving something extraordinary at this moment, which is why he is currently the clear favorite for the Republican nomination,” said Enten.
“He is significantly ahead of the competition.”
