Did Nick Reiner Go Downhill Because of His Therapy? Radar Goes Inside His Treatment Center

Authorities have revealed that both victims died from “multiple sharp force injuries.” Nick Reiner has not entered a plea yet, and the case is still ongoing. As investigators work to piece together the events leading up to the tragic deaths, the focus has shifted to Nick’s long history of addiction, mental illness, and treatment, including a controversial wilderness program in Utah that he attended as a teenager.

Friends and former patients of the program have raised concerns about Nick’s own account of how his time at the wilderness camp may have played a role in his later struggles with heroin addiction. In a 2016 interview on the Dopey podcast, Nick shared his experience of being sent to a Utah wilderness camp called Second Nature at the age of 16 after refusing to attend high school and experimenting with drugs.

“I went to a wilderness program in Utah. It was called Second Nature, and I met a kid there from L.A. and, at the time, he was kind of a hardcore Venice kid,” Nick recounted. He went on to explain how this encounter had a lasting impact on him.

“I met him when I was 16 and then, (when) I was 18, I was in a sober living, and I call him up because I knew he was really into heroin at the time,” Nick confessed.

The details of Nick’s past and his struggles with addiction have raised questions about the effectiveness of the treatment he received and whether it may have inadvertently contributed to his downward spiral. As the investigation continues, more light may be shed on the complex factors that led to this tragic outcome.
