CHICAGO — Authorities are actively searching for a group believed to be responsible for a series of robberies and carjackings in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood. The perpetrators have targeted a diverse range of victims, including pedestrians, delivery couriers, and Uber drivers, within a concentrated area of the community, perpetrating at least 15 incidents.

Chicago Police Department released video footage showcasing two individuals from the group, one clad in only shorts and shoes, and the other in a robe, who robbed a victim on the 1600 block of West 82nd Street at approximately 5:30 p.m. on October 24. Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the identification of these suspects. Watch the video below:

The group is also believed to have carried out another robbery on the same block earlier on October 24 and on July 24.

The modus operandi of the group typically involves approaching victims, brandishing a small firearm, and demanding valuables such as wallets and phones. In addition to targeting individuals on the streets, they have also robbed delivery personnel making their way to homes and are suspected of orchestrating carjackings by ordering Uber rides, only to assault the drivers with mace and seize their vehicles at gunpoint.

Aside from the incidents on 82nd Street, law enforcement suspects the group to have struck in the following locations:

CWBChicago was established in 2013 by a group of residents from Wrigleyville and Boystown who were dissatisfied with the inaccurate information provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings.

Since then, our coverage area has expanded to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side areas. However, our core mission remains unchanged: To deliver original public safety reporting with enhanced context and detailed insights compared to mainstream media outlets.
