Twitter and Pinterest Co-Founders Raise $29 Million for Social Media Startup West Co

Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, and Evan Sharp, co-founder of Pinterest, have successfully secured new funding for their latest venture, West Co.

West Co recently unveiled an exclusive, invite-only version of their debut app, Tangle, in November. The Financial Times has managed to gather additional insights about the startup from statements made by Stone and Sharp, as well as from regulatory documents and job postings.

Reports indicate that West Co has raised a total of $29 million, with Spark Capital taking the lead in their seed funding round.

CEO Evan Sharp shared that West Co was born out of a desire to address the emotional and mental challenges that have emerged over the past decade and a half. He posed the question, “What could I build that might help address just some of the terrible devastation of the human mind and heart that we’ve wrought the last 15 years?”

The initial answer to this question comes in the form of an app that prompts users to reflect on their intentions for the day. By sharing their goals with friends, users are encouraged to plan with purpose, document their daily experiences, and uncover the underlying themes that shape their lives.

Biz Stone mentioned to the FT that there could be significant changes to the app before it is officially launched to the public.
