CM Punk reportedly suffered an injury during last night’s episode of WWE RAW. The Second City Saint defended the World Heavyweight Championship against Bron Breakker in the main event of last night’s show at the Barclays Center. According to a new report from Bryan Alvarez of The Wrestling Observer, Punk may have suffered a concussion last night during the World Heavyweight Championship match against Breakker. Alvarez noted that Punk is reportedly in the company’s concussion protocol following his successful title defense on WWE RAW.
The Vision got involved in the match between Breakker and Punk last night on the red brand. However, Dragon Lee, Penta, and Rey Mysterio took out the heel faction during the match to even the odds. Punk earned the pinfall victory over Breakker after connecting with his second GTS of the match.
Austin Theory, a member of The Vision, recently called out CM Punk and other WWE legends for wanting to have a retirement tour. Speaking on RAW Recap, Theory suggested that Punk likely wanted to have a retirement tour like Cena at the end of his career. The former United States Champion claimed that the retirement tours were ego-driven and that nobody deserved an entire year dedicated to their goodbye.
“It’s funny you say retirement tour and CM Punk saying he’s not ready to go. Maybe that’s him pitching his retirement tour. I think all these guys just want a retirement tour. But it’s like, come on. You gotta leave for a year? We gotta say goodbye to you each night for a year? Like how drawn-out is that? How ridiculous is that? How ego-hungry are you? You’re such a good guy, but we gotta say goodbye to you on Monday, and maybe Friday, and definitely on the PPVs, and definitely at WrestleMania. And you’re gonna be on that show, and maybe we just make one big show all about you,” he said.
It will be interesting to see how long CM Punk can hold onto the World Heavyweight Championship moving forward on WWE RAW.
