Anthony Wood Reveals Future Plans for Howdy Streaming Service at CES 2026

At the recent CES 2026 event, Anthony Wood, the founder, chairman, and CEO of Roku, shared some exciting insights into the future of the company’s latest streaming channel, Howdy. Launched in August last year, Howdy offers viewers ad-free access to a vast library of content for just $2.99 per month. This move comes at a time when other streaming services are increasing their prices, making Howdy a more affordable option for consumers.

During the Variety Entertainment Summit at CES, Wood highlighted the unique positioning of Howdy in the market. He pointed out that as other streaming services continue to raise prices and introduce more ads, the original concept of low-cost, ad-free streaming has been lost. This presents a significant opportunity for Howdy to cater to a segment of the market that is currently underserved by existing players.

Wood also hinted at Roku’s ambitious plans to expand the reach of Howdy beyond the Roku platform. While the streaming service initially launched on Roku devices, Wood mentioned that they have plans to make Howdy available on other platforms as well. When asked about the specifics of this expansion, Wood indicated that Howdy could potentially be accessible through mobile apps, the web, and other channels in the future.

Although Wood did not disclose exact subscriber numbers during the event, he expressed confidence in Howdy’s potential to become a major player in the streaming industry. He emphasized that the goal is to make Howdy a widely available streaming service that can be accessed on any device, indicating a strategic shift towards broader distribution.
