Spangle Raises $15 Million in Funding Round Led by NewRoad Capital Partners

Spangle, an AI e-commerce startup founded by former Bolt CEO Maju Kuruvilla, has recently announced a successful funding round that raised $15 million. This new investment values the company at $100 million, marking a significant milestone for the Seattle-based startup.

The Series A round was led by NewRoad Capital Partners, with participation from previous investors Madrona, DNX Ventures, Streamlined Ventures, and strategic angel investors. This brings Spangle’s total funding to $21 million, following a $6 million seed round last year.

Revolutionizing E-commerce with AI

Spangle aims to revolutionize the e-commerce industry by leveraging artificial intelligence to personalize shopping experiences for consumers. The startup’s software, powered by its proprietary model ProductGPT, provides real-time product recommendations and layouts based on individual shopper behavior and preferences.

Since emerging from stealth mode in March of last year, Spangle has onboarded nine enterprise customers, including well-known fashion retailers like Revolve, Alexander Wang, and Steve Madden. These partnerships have generated significant online sales, totaling approximately $3.8 billion.

According to Kuruvilla, Spangle’s platform has seen a 57% month-on-month growth in traffic, with all customers expanding their usage of the software. In the fourth quarter, the startup quadrupled its annualized revenue, demonstrating the value of its AI-driven approach.

Driving Revenue Growth and Customer Engagement

By redirecting traffic to personalized pages generated by AI, Spangle has helped brands increase revenue per visit by close to 50%, double return on ad spend, and boost average order value by 15%. This dynamic approach to e-commerce has proven successful in enhancing customer engagement and driving sales for retailers.

Spangle’s success can be attributed to Kuruvilla and CTO Fei Wang’s extensive experience in e-commerce and AI technologies. Kuruvilla’s background at Amazon and Bolt, coupled with Wang’s expertise in AI systems, has positioned Spangle as a leader in AI-powered commerce infrastructure.

Future Plans and Expansion

With the latest funding round, Spangle plans to invest in research and development, expand its engineering team, and bolster its sales organization. The startup is poised for further growth and innovation in the rapidly evolving e-commerce landscape.

As consumer preferences shift towards AI-driven shopping experiences, Spangle’s adaptive approach to e-commerce is well-positioned to meet the changing needs of retailers and consumers alike. The company’s commitment to leveraging AI technology for personalized shopping experiences sets it apart as a key player in the future of online retail.
