JD Vance Tried To Justify ICE Killing Renee Good And It Was A Disaster

As we approach the one-year mark of the second Trump administration, a familiar script emerges: when unfortunate news strikes, Donald Trump appears to have an uncanny ability to delegate the fallout to his vice president, JD Vance. Vance, seemingly oblivious to his role as the administration’s human shield, finds himself navigating increasingly treacherous waters.

In the wake of a tragic incident where an ICE agent fatally shot Renee Good in Minneapolis while she was observing an immigration operation, Vance was called upon to mitigate the damage. However, his attempts to smooth over the situation seemed to have the opposite effect, exacerbating the Republican Party’s woes instead.

When pressed about the status of the ICE agent involved in the shooting, Vance launched into a defense of the operation, stating:

“First of all, it was a legitimate law enforcement operation. We were going door to door to try to find criminal illegal aliens and deport them from the United States of America.”

“Because if you come to our country illegally in violation of our immigration laws, then we have the mandate, and in fact, we have the legal duty to enforce those immigration laws. I don’t know if he’s been placed on administrative leave; I’d refer that to the Department of Homeland Security for clarification.”

“I would appreciate everyone saying a prayer for that agent. He’s been hit by vehicles twice in the past six months, leading to serious injuries. This is a guy who’s actually done a very important job for the United States of America.”

“He’s faced assaults and injuries in the line of duty and deserves our gratitude. It’s disgraceful how the media is quick to label him a murderer.”

While Vance’s defense of the ICE agent might have been intended to bolster morale, it only added fuel to the fire of public outrage, particularly when it came to his comments about Renee Good. The vice president’s misplaced priorities in defending a law enforcement official over the life lost only intensified the scrutiny on the administration’s immigration policies.
