Samsung has once again pushed the boundaries of smartphone design with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold. This new device marks a significant evolution in the world of folding phones, offering a unique tri-folding mechanism that sets it apart from its predecessors.

I had the opportunity to get my hands on the Galaxy Z TriFold at CES 2026, and I was immediately impressed by its design. The device is surprisingly lightweight at 309g, making it easy to handle despite its innovative folding capabilities. When unfolded, the Galaxy Z TriFold boasts a slim profile of just 3.9mm, setting a new standard for thinness in the world of smartphones and tablets.

The folding mechanism of the Galaxy Z TriFold allows it to transform from a standard smartphone size to a 10-inch tablet with ease. The external display measures 6.5 inches and offers vibrant colors and sharp detail, while the internal 10-inch AMOLED display provides an immersive viewing experience. Despite the presence of creases where the phone folds, they are not overly noticeable and do not detract from the overall display quality.

In terms of performance, the Galaxy Z TriFold is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. While it may not be the latest chip on the market, the device runs smoothly and is capable of handling multiple tasks with ease. The camera setup on the Galaxy Z TriFold is also impressive, with a 200Mp main sensor, a 12Mp ultra-wide sensor, and a 10Mp telephoto sensor.

The software experience on the Galaxy Z TriFold is enhanced by Samsung’s One UI 8, offering a range of multitasking features and support for Samsung DeX. One standout feature is the device’s ability to provide warnings when closing the phone the wrong way, ensuring that users do not inadvertently damage the device.

Despite its many strengths, the availability of the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold remains limited, with a launch exclusive to South Korea and plans for a US launch in Q1 of 2026. However, for those looking for a smartphone that pushes the boundaries of design and functionality, the Galaxy Z TriFold is certainly worth considering.

In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold represents a significant leap forward in smartphone technology. With its innovative design, impressive displays, and clever software features, it is a device that is truly ahead of its time. Hopefully, we will see wider availability of this groundbreaking device in the near future.
