Vice President JD Vance Defends ICE Officer’s Actions in Deadly Encounter
Vice President JD Vance defended ICE officer Jonathan Ross’s actions in the recent deadly encounter with Renee Nicole Good. Vance stated that new footage clearly shows that the immigration officer’s life was endangered, leading him to open fire on Good’s SUV in self-defense.
In a tweet on X, Vance urged viewers to watch the video, emphasizing that misconceptions about the incident need to be addressed. He explained that Ross was not hit by a car or harassed, but rather acted to protect himself in a dangerous situation.
The newly released video, filmed by Ross on his cell phone, captures Renee’s wife, Rebecca, taunting federal officers outside their vehicle while Renee sat in the driver’s seat with the window down.
As tensions rise, an officer instructs Renee to step out of the car. However, instead of complying, the 37-year-old mother of three starts the car and begins to drive away as Rebecca encourages her to flee, as seen in the footage.
While Minnesota lawmakers, including Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, have criticized Ross’s actions, the Trump administration has argued that Good intentionally drove towards him, prompting him to use deadly force.
