114-Year-Old Pennsylvania Woman Becomes Oldest Living Person in North America

GREENVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A 114-year-old Pennsylvania woman is now believed to be the oldest living person in North America.

Naomi Whitehead, residing in a senior care community in Greenville West Salem, achieved this milestone after the passing of Elizabeth Francis of Texas on Oct. 22.

Whitehead, born in September 1910 on a farm in Georgia, has surpassed her husband and three sons in age. She attributes her longevity to good genes and a love for activities like cooking, baking, drawing, and listening to music, all while abstaining from smoking and alcohol.

In a recent interview with the New Castle News, Whitehead expressed her contentment with life, stating, “I’ll live as long as the Lord lets me,” signaling her open-ended approach to longevity.
