President Trump Plans to Discuss Restoring Internet in Iran with Elon Musk
President Donald Trump announced on Sunday his intention to speak with billionaire Elon Musk regarding the restoration of internet services in Iran. The country has been experiencing a blackout for four days amidst ongoing anti-government protests.
Trump expressed confidence in Musk’s abilities, stating, “He’s very good at that kind of thing, he’s got a very good company.” SpaceX, Musk’s company, offers a satellite internet service known as Starlink that has been utilized in Iran.
The relationship between Musk and Trump has been tumultuous, with the billionaire initially supporting Trump’s presidential campaign but later opposing his tax bill. However, recent interactions, including a dinner at Trump’s Mar-A-Lago resort, suggest a rekindling of their relationship.
Protests in Iran have been ongoing since the end of December, fueled by soaring inflation and demands for an end to clerical rule. The blackout of internet services has further intensified the situation.
Despite repeated attempts to reach out for comment, Musk and SpaceX have not responded at the time of writing.
