The Westminster Mall in Orange County has fallen victim to a wave of vandalism and illegal activity since its closure last October. The once vibrant shopping center has now become a haven for vandals, with its walls covered in graffiti and its premises overrun by trespassers.

According to reports from KTLA, the Westminster Police Department has responded to a staggering 402 calls for service in just three months, with incidents ranging from trespassing to outstanding arrest warrants. In a recent crackdown, officers made over 30 arrests in a span of three days and responded to 57 calls for service, highlighting the severity of the situation.

Despite being boarded up, individuals are still finding ways to enter the abandoned mall, leading to concerns about safety and security. Witnesses have reported large groups of people engaging in illegal activities inside the mall, with no police or security presence to deter them.

Authorities have issued warnings that the mall is off-limits to the public, and anyone found trespassing will be arrested. The police department is working with the owners to enhance security measures and raise awareness about the vandalism plaguing the property.

Former patrons of the mall, like Alexis Malatesta, have expressed dismay at the current state of the once bustling shopping center. Malatesta, who used to frequent the mall and even organized a farewell party when it closed, voiced concerns about the potential dangers posed by the ongoing vandalism.

Plans for the redevelopment of the Westminster Mall are in the works, with proposals suggesting a mix of housing, retail shops, or a hotel. However, the immediate focus is on addressing the vandalism and securing the property to prevent further illegal activities.

As efforts continue to combat the vandalism at the Westminster Mall, authorities are urging the public to stay away from the premises and report any suspicious activity to the police. The hope is to restore the mall to its former glory and create a safe and welcoming environment for the community.
