Motorola has released the Moto G06 Power, a budget-friendly smartphone that prioritizes battery life above all else. With a massive 7000mAh battery, this phone is designed to last for days on end without needing a recharge. Priced slightly higher than the standard G06, the Moto G06 Power offers a compelling option for users looking for a reliable device that won’t break the bank.

Design & Build

The Moto G06 Power may not have the most modern design, but it offers a comfortable feel in the hand. The device features a large 6.88-inch HD+ display with a teardrop notch and a chin at the bottom. The inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack is a welcome addition, along with a USB-C port for charging. The phone weighs 220g and comes with a plastic back finished in a soft-touch vegan leather texture. Motorola includes a transparent case in the box for added protection.

The right-mounted fingerprint scanner doubles as the power button, although left-handed users may find it less convenient. Overall, the design of the Moto G06 Power is functional and practical, if not particularly premium.

Screen & Speakers

The device boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, which is impressive for a budget phone. However, the display is relatively mundane in terms of colors and clarity. The built-in speakers offer decent sound quality for casual listening, but headphones are recommended for a better audio experience.

Specs & Performance

With 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, the Moto G06 Power offers enough performance for everyday tasks. The Helio G81 processor powers the device, allowing for smooth operation of apps like Gmail, YouTube, and Netflix. However, there may be some lag when opening apps or multitasking heavily. Gaming on the device is possible but limited to lightweight titles.

The phone supports expandable storage up to 1TB via a microSD card. Motorola’s ‘RAM Boost’ mode leverages part of the internal storage to improve multitasking capabilities, although its practical benefits may be limited.

Cameras

The Moto G06 Power features a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie lens. The rear camera captures natural-looking shots with accurate color balance, although it may struggle in low-light conditions. The zoom capabilities of the camera are limited, and the device is best used in well-lit environments. The front-facing camera is suitable for video calls but performs best in bright lighting.

Battery Life & Charging

The standout feature of the Moto G06 Power is its massive 7000mAh battery, which easily lasts for days on a single charge. The phone supports 18W wired charging speeds, although a charging brick is not included in the box. The device comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable for charging.

Software & Apps

Running Android 15, the Moto G06 Power offers a near-stock Android experience with some useful additions from Motorola. Features like Moto Unplugged and Chip View notifications enhance the user experience. However, the device comes with preinstalled third-party apps that may need to be removed for a cleaner user experience.

Price & Availability

The Moto G06 Power is available for purchase from Motorola in the UK and retailers like Argos and Currys for around £89.99. The device is not officially available in the US. Despite its low price, the Moto G06 Power offers a compelling option for users looking for a budget-friendly smartphone with exceptional battery life.

Should you buy the Motorola Moto G06 Power?

The Moto G06 Power may not be the most advanced smartphone on the market, but it offers reliable performance and exceptional battery life for a budget-friendly price. With a focus on endurance and practicality, this device is a solid choice for users who prioritize battery longevity above all else. If you’re in the market for a smartphone that can last for days on a single charge, the Moto G06 Power is definitely worth considering.
