The team started off strong in their pool play, giving defending champion Hutt Valley a run for their money in a closely contested game that ended 17-12. Despite a tough start against Auckland, where they found themselves trailing 14-0, the boys fought back to score six runs before Auckland ultimately took the game 21-6.
After a solid 4-0 win over Otago, the team continued their winning streak by defeating Nelson 11-0 and Manawatu 4-1 on the second day. However, they faced a tough challenge against eventual tournament winners Counties Manukau, who secured a 16-1 victory.
Injuries and lineup changes affected the team’s performance in the cross-over match against Southland, resulting in a 10-1 loss. Despite this, players like Noah Powell and Anthony Baker stood out in the batting stats.
In the final game of the tournament against Otago, South Canterbury came out strong with 10 runs in the first innings and a final score of 13-3 in their favor. Standout performances from players like Hunter-Brady, White, and Baker highlighted the team’s talent.
