U.S. House Oversight Committee Chair Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., is taking action to get answers about Vice President Kamala Harris’ role as border czar. Comer has threatened to subpoena the head of the border patrol after not receiving satisfactory responses to his inquiries.
In a letter to Troy Miller, the acting commissioner for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Comer requested documents and communications regarding Harris’ involvement in addressing the ongoing border crisis. Despite the deadline passing, CBP has failed to provide the committee with any relevant information or a timeline for compliance.
“If CBP continues to withhold documents and communications on this matter, the Committee will consider alternative measures to obtain this information, including through the compulsory process,” Comer stated in the letter.
Harris has been attempting to distance herself from her role in managing the border issue under President Joe Biden’s administration. The crisis at the border has escalated, with millions of illegal immigrants entering the U.S. in a short period. The surge in migrants has led to several high-profile crimes committed by illegal immigrants, raising concerns among lawmakers.
Lawmakers are seeking clarity on Harris’ actions or inactions in handling the border crisis. The letter emphasized the importance of understanding Harris’ role as the border czar and the impact of mass illegal entry and the release of illegal aliens under the Biden-Harris administration.
“The mass illegal entry and release of illegal aliens into the United States under the Biden-Harris Administration has contributed to murders, sexual assaults, and serious bodily injuries committed against numerous Americans at the hands of illegal aliens. These crimes should have never happened,” the letter stated.
As the investigation continues, the House Oversight Committee is determined to uncover the truth about Harris’ involvement in addressing the border crisis. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
