At CES 2026, the Looki L1 stood out as one of the most unique wearables on display. Shaped like an obscure Pokémon, this tiny camera worn around the neck tracks your day, provides AI assistance, and even offers some gentle criticism – at least in my experience.

However, in noisy environments like the CES show floor, getting the AI to respond accurately proved challenging. Despite its imperfections, the L1’s AI capabilities offer a cost-effective alternative to pricier options.

One of Looki’s standout features is its ability to create a comic strip based on your daily experiences. While the comic styles look impressive on social media, the process is more complex than anticipated. Generating a comic strip required personal photos and videos, which I found challenging due to a learning curve. Despite some confusion, the novelty of turning daily experiences into a comic strip is appealing.

Despite its flaws in video quality, AI functionality, and comic generation, the Looki L1 appeals to vloggers seeking a unique perspective. While it may not match smartphone quality, the L1 offers a convenient ‘set-and-forget’ experience. With further AI development, the L1 could become a compelling purchase for certain users. Priced at $199 on the Looki website, the L1 offers a different approach to capturing daily moments.
