An illegal immigrant from Cuba is currently in federal custody after a shocking incident in a Walmart parking lot in Texas where he rammed ICE vehicles and nearly ran over an agent. The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Robyn Argote-Brooks, was captured on video ignoring officers’ commands to exit his gold sedan after being pulled over in San Antonio. Instead of complying, he suddenly accelerated in reverse, narrowly missing an agent before crashing into the feds’ SUV.
Despite being boxed in by the agents’ cars, Argote-Brooks continued to drive recklessly, hitting another ICE vehicle in an attempt to escape. The disturbing footage shows the chaos that unfolded as officers tried to apprehend the suspect. Eventually, they were able to break the driver’s side window, pull Argote-Brooks out of the car, and arrest him.
Records show that Argote-Brooks illegally entered the US in October 2024 at the Laredo Port of Entry in Texas. He was among the over one million migrants who crossed into the country that year under the Biden administration’s CBP One app. After being issued a notice to appear by Customs and Border Protection, he was released on parole while awaiting an immigration hearing. However, his parole was terminated in April 2025.
The recent attack on ICE agents led to Argote-Brooks facing a federal charge of destruction of government property for causing significant vehicular damages. The affidavit states that the damages amount to at least $4,847.19, with the charge carrying a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
This incident is part of a concerning trend of car attacks on ICE officers, which have seen a staggering increase of 3,200% in the past year, according to DHS data. Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin attributed this rise in violence against agents to sanctuary politicians who encourage illegal immigrants to evade arrest, creating an environment that fosters violence.
Secretary Noem has made it clear that anyone who assaults law enforcement will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The case of Robyn Argote-Brooks serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by ICE agents in the line of duty and the importance of upholding law and order in the country.
