The Buffalo Bills made a shocking decision on Monday by firing their head coach, Sean McDermott, following a tough loss in the AFC Divisional game against the Denver Broncos. This move didn’t sit well with former NFL coach Jon Gruden, who expressed his dismay on Monday’s edition of Wakeup Barstool.

Gruden was visibly upset upon hearing the news, stating, “That makes me sick, that makes me absolutely sick.” He went on to say that he has no idea what is going on in the league right now and wished good luck to the Bills, although he admitted that he was personally glad they lost the game.

The former Super Bowl-winning coach believes that the Bills will struggle to improve without McDermott at the helm, stating, “I don’t think you can do much better than Sean McDermott.” Gruden pointed out that the Bills’ defensive line had been struggling all year and expressed his disappointment at McDermott’s firing.

McDermott had been with the Bills for nine seasons, leading them to the playoffs eight times with just one losing season in 2018. Despite high expectations this season, the Bills fell short in the AFC Championship game against the Chiefs for the second time under McDermott’s tenure.

As for the future of the Bills, McDermott’s firing will undoubtedly have ripple effects throughout the organization. There are rumors that offensive coordinator Joe Brady may be promoted to head coach, given the success of the offense with him at the helm. General manager Brandon Beane is reportedly leading the search for a new coach while also taking on the role of President.

The Bills have not made it to the Super Bowl since their loss to the Dallas Cowboys in 1994, and fans are hoping that a new coach can lead them back to the big game. The decision to part ways with McDermott marks a significant change for the team, and only time will tell how it will impact their future success.
