Bungie’s Marathon has finally locked in an official release date after a long and tumultuous development journey. The highly anticipated PvPvE shooter has been the subject of several public playtests, mixed early feedback, and even an art plagiarism controversy. All these factors contributed to multiple delays and an uncertain release window for months. However, Bungie has now confirmed that Marathon is set to launch on March 5, 2026.
Marathon is set in the dark sci-fi world of Tau Ceti IV and features a bold, stylized visual direction that sets it apart from other popular titles in the genre. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
For those interested in pre-ordering the game, it is already available for pre-order on Steam and the Xbox Store. PlayStation users can currently only add the game to their wishlist. To pre-order, simply visit the store page on your preferred platform, add the game to your cart, and complete the purchase process as usual. The game will appear in your library but will only be playable once the release date arrives.
There are two editions available for Marathon: the Standard Edition priced at $39.99 and the Deluxe Edition priced at $59.99. The Deluxe Edition includes the base game, Midnight Decay Bundle, Premium Rewards Pass Voucher, and 200 Silk.
Players who pre-order any edition before March 5, 2026, will receive in-game rewards such as the ZERO STEP 004 CE Tactical Sidearm Style, ZERO STEP RC Weapon Charm, ZERO STEP SHIFT Weapon Sticker, APOGEE INTERCEPT Background, and APOGEE INTERCEPT Emblem. Additionally, players can also claim rewards in Destiny 2, including the UESC Echo-type Shell Exotic Ghost, UESC Rover Exotic Ship, and UESC Sprinter Exotic Sparrow.
That covers everything you need to know about Marathon’s release. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated PvPvE shooter.
