A recent incident in the Bronx shocked residents as a man was shot during a road rage altercation by a suspect who then fled the scene, leaving the victim in critical condition. The suspect, identified as Frankie Poventud, allegedly fired at the 36-year-old victim at Concourse Village and East 156th Street on Friday afternoon. The victim, who had no prior connection to Poventud, was rushed to Lincoln Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.

Poventud, a resident of Mount Hope, evaded authorities for nearly two days before eventually turning himself in at the 44th Precinct stationhouse on Sunday evening. He now faces charges of attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon. As of now, his arraignment is pending.

This incident is just one in a series of road rage-related violence in the Bronx, including a fatal shooting on New Year’s Day where an Uber driver, Issa Mbolo-Isac, was killed in a dispute over a fender-bender. The suspect in that case, Ehinel Troncoso, remains at large according to the NYPD.

The community is reeling from these senseless acts of violence, emphasizing the need for de-escalation and conflict resolution in tense situations on the road. Authorities are working diligently to bring those responsible to justice and ensure the safety of all residents.
