The Growing Demand for Voice AI Solutions in India

Industry reports and the growth of voice model companies in the Indian market suggest that there is a growing demand for voice AI solutions in the country. Voice communication is a popular medium among people and businesses in India, leading enterprises and startups to adopt voice AI for various functions such as customer support, sales, customer acquisition, hiring, and training.

One such company making waves in the voice AI space is Bolna, a voice orchestration startup founded by Maitreya Wagh and Prateek Sachan. Despite facing rejection from Y Combinator multiple times, Bolna eventually secured a spot in the fall 2025 batch after demonstrating significant revenue growth.

Initially, Bolna offered $100 pilots to help users build voice agents but has now increased the pricing to $500 per pilot. The startup recently announced a $6.3 million seed round led by General Catalyst, with participation from other prominent investors.

The Product and Customers

Bolna’s platform serves as an orchestration layer that connects and manages different AI voice technologies, catering specifically to the nuances of interactions in India. The company has incorporated features like noise cancellation, caller ID verification through Truecaller, and support for mixed languages to address the unique needs of Indian users.

One of Bolna’s key differentiators is its user-friendly approach to building voice agents, allowing users to describe their requirements without extensive knowledge of the underlying technology. The platform emphasizes self-serve capabilities, with 75% of its revenue coming from self-serve customers.

Moreover, Bolna’s orchestration layer enables enterprises to easily switch between different models, ensuring they always have access to the best technology available. The company has attracted a diverse range of clients, including car reselling platforms, on-demand services, beverage companies, and dating apps.

While serving small to midsize businesses through its self-serve platform, Bolna is also pursuing large enterprise deals. The company has onboarded two large enterprises as paying customers and has four more in the pilot stage. To support this enterprise push, Bolna has a team of forward-deployed engineers who work closely with clients on-site or remotely.

Bolna has experienced significant growth in call volumes and revenue, handling over 200,000 calls per day and approaching $700,000 in annual recurring revenue. The company’s flexible orchestration layer has garnered praise from investors like General Catalyst for its ability to cater to diverse customer needs.

Overall, Bolna’s success story exemplifies the increasing demand for voice AI solutions in India and the potential for innovative startups to capitalize on this growing market.
