Michelle Obama recently addressed her controversial comment about the U.S. not being ready for a female president in a revealing interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast. The former first lady clarified her remarks, stating that she believes the country is making progress towards the possibility of electing a woman to the White House in the future.

During the interview, Michelle explained that her previous comment was made in jest and that she does believe that the U.S. is moving in the direction of electing a female president. She emphasized that change takes time and highlighted the strides that have been made in terms of gender equality in the country.

Michelle also delved into the reasons why some voters may be reluctant to support a female candidate for president, pointing out that there are still biases and prejudices that need to be addressed. She mentioned the qualifications of past female candidates like Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris, who have run for president but ultimately lost to male opponents.

The former first lady highlighted the challenges that women face in the political arena, pointing to the fact that her husband, Barack Obama, was able to defeat Hillary Clinton in the 2008 Democratic primary despite her extensive experience and qualifications. She urged for a deeper conversation about the reasons why women candidates may face obstacles in their campaigns.

Overall, Michelle stressed the importance of acknowledging the progress that has been made towards gender equality in politics while also recognizing the work that still needs to be done to ensure that women have equal opportunities to lead. She encouraged a candid discussion about the biases and prejudices that may exist when it comes to electing a female president and emphasized the need for continued efforts to break down barriers for women in leadership roles.
