The recent arrest of notorious drug kingpin and former Olympic snowboarder Ryan Wedding by the FBI has been hailed as a significant success for the agency under President Trump’s administration. Director Kash Patel announced Wedding’s capture as the sixth top-10 most wanted fugitive apprehended by the bureau, marking a historic milestone in their efforts to bring criminals to justice.
Speaking at Ontario International Airport in California, Patel highlighted the FBI’s achievements over the past year, including a record-breaking number of arrests and seizures. He emphasized that Wedding’s arrest, along with five other top-10 fugitives captured in the same year, surpassed the total number of captures during the previous administration.
The FBI’s efforts have resulted in 67,000 arrests in the past year, representing a remarkable 200% increase from the previous year. In addition to apprehending high-profile fugitives, the agency has also seized a significant amount of fentanyl, enough to potentially kill 150 million Americans, marking a 31% increase in drug seizures.
Furthermore, Patel highlighted the FBI’s success in combatting foreign espionage activities, with a 35% increase in arrests of espionage actors from countries like China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran. The agency has also made significant strides in locating missing children, with 6,000 children identified and found this year, a 22% increase from previous years.
On top of these accomplishments, Patel noted a 20% decline in the US murder rate under the Trump administration, a record achievement in modern times. The FBI’s relentless efforts have led to the successful capture of another top-10 wanted fugitive in Mexico, who will soon be extradited to the United States to face charges.
Overall, the FBI’s recent successes underscore the agency’s commitment to upholding law and order, combating criminal activities, and ensuring the safety and security of the American people. Wedding’s arrest serves as a testament to the dedication and effectiveness of the FBI in apprehending dangerous criminals and bringing them to justice.
