Halloween has always been a fun holiday in the league, with players dressing up as their favorite fictional characters. Gobert is known for making an effort to dress tastefully during Halloween. In 2017, while playing for the Utah Jazz, he attended a Halloween party dressed as an Egyptian pharaoh, complete with an ancient crown and a snake staff.
In 2021, Gobert opted for a silver vest that exposed his chest, along with silver paint on his face. This year, however, he chose to wear a wolf mask instead of elaborate makeup. Despite his efforts, fans were quick to criticize Gobert’s costume choice.
Fans took to social media to express their disappointment with Gobert’s costume, with one fan stating, "Nice just pudy! You just ruined Halloween." Another fan commented, "Bro is NOT tough," while another fan suggested that Gobert was hiding his face because he knew Luka Doncic was going to embarrass him on the court.
The criticism continued with fans calling Gobert a "fking furry" and a "tall goofy s werewolf." Some fans even went as far as calling him annoying for his choice of costume.
Despite the backlash, Gobert recently signed a three-year, $110 million contract extension with the Timberwolves. The extension will come into effect after his current five-year, $205 million deal expires in 2025-26. Gobert expressed his happiness with the new deal, stating that it was a "win-win situation" for both him and the franchise.
