Vice President Kamala Harris is making a promise to safeguard healthcare access and American manufacturing jobs in response to House Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) recent remarks about the possibility of Republicans repealing significant laws if they come into power and if Donald Trump wins the presidential election.

“Healthcare reform will be a significant part of the agenda,” Johnson stated during an event in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, as reported by NBC News. “We have a lot of items still on the agenda for a very aggressive first 100 days.”

When questioned about the Affordable Care Act and the CHIPS Act, Johnson confirmed that there would be no more Obamacare in a second Trump term. He also mentioned the potential repeal of the CHIPS Act, a program that supported investments in electronics manufacturing, before retracting his statement following public backlash.

During a campaign stop in Wisconsin, Harris strongly criticized these proposed actions by the Republicans.

In a tweet by Kamala HQ, Vice President Harris was quoted as saying, “Mike Johnson calling to repeal the Affordable Care Act and the CHIPS Act speaks to Trump’s intention to implement Project 2025. Let’s talk about manufacturing. Donald Trump lost 200,000 manufacturing jobs. We have created over 700,000 new manufacturing
”

Addressing reporters in Milwaukee, Harris remarked, “It is just further evidence of everything that I’ve actually been talking about for months now about Trump’s intention to implement Project 2025.”

Although Trump has denied any affiliation with Project 2025, a plan that proposes the dismantling of federal agencies and replacing civil servants with Trump loyalists, many of its architects remain connected to Trump.

“We have talked repeatedly about their intention to get rid of the Affordable Care Act — now, to get rid of the CHIPS Act,” Harris emphasized. “Let’s talk about manufacturing, which is a critical issue for many of the states that will make the difference in this election.”

The CHIPS Act, signed into law by President Joe Biden in 2022, aimed to strengthen the domestic computer chip sector with a $52 billion investment, leading to a surge in domestic manufacturing.

Harris reaffirmed her commitment to supporting such investments to create “good union jobs” and compete with China in the 21st century, highlighting the kind of leadership she believes America deserves in their president.
