Eventbrite’s 2026 Social Study recently revealed some interesting insights into people’s preferences when it comes to events and activities. The study, titled Reset to Real, surveyed over 4,000 individuals between the ages of 18 to 35 in the US and UK. The findings shed light on a growing desire for more authentic and spontaneous experiences in a world that is increasingly dominated by curated and staged content.

According to the survey, nearly half of the respondents expressed a wish for events to feel less curated and more real. Over half of the participants indicated that they value one-of-a-kind experiences that feel unique and special. Additionally, a majority of respondents stated that they trust recommendations from people rather than platforms when it comes to event suggestions.

One of the key takeaways from the study was the importance of spontaneity and unpredictability in events. Nearly 80% of respondents emphasized the importance of events that feel spontaneous and unpredictable, highlighting a desire for more genuine and authentic experiences.

Interestingly, the study also revealed that while socializing is important to many, it is not always the main focus of events. Instead, respondents preferred activities that allowed for active participation rather than just passive observation. This suggests a shift towards more interactive and engaging event experiences.

Furthermore, the survey found that a significant portion of respondents are drawn to cause-based events that provide a sense of purpose beyond just entertainment. This reflects a growing interest in events that foster connections with local communities and promote social impact.

Overall, the findings of Eventbrite’s 2026 Social Study point to a broader trend towards seeking out real and authentic experiences in an increasingly digital world. As people become more fatigued with online interactions and curated content, the desire for genuine connections and spontaneous moments is on the rise. So, next time you’re looking for something to do, consider stepping away from the screen and embracing the IRL experience. Who knows, you might just stumble upon a one-of-a-kind event that leaves a lasting impression.
