Arsenal isn’t hitting the panic button, but the Premier League title nerves are starting to show in north London after a 3-2 home loss to Manchester United this morning opened the door for the chasing pack.

Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha scored stunning second-half goals to give United their first Premier League victory at Arsenal since 2017, narrowing Arsenal’s lead at the top.

Instead of extending their seven-point lead, Arsenal’s first home defeat of the season put them four points ahead of Manchester City and Aston Villa.

City bounced back with a win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday morning, while Villa secured a 2-0 victory at Newcastle United before Arsenal’s match at The Emirates Stadium.

Emiliano Buendia’s brilliant first-half strike and a late goal by Ollie Watkins sealed the win for Villa, who responded impressively after last week’s loss to Everton.

Arsenal, now winless in three league games, have 50 points from 23 matches, with City and Villa following closely on 46 points each. United sit fourth with 38 points.

Chelsea claimed a 3-1 victory at Crystal Palace, with goals from Estevao, Joao Pedro, and Enzo Fernandez. Chris Richards scored a consolation goal for Palace, who had Adam Wharton sent off.

Nottingham Forest moved five points clear of the relegation zone with a 2-0 win against Brentford.

Arsenal, aiming for their first title since 2004, missed a chance to build a comfortable lead as City and Villa faltered. The defeat to United, following two consecutive goalless draws, has heightened the pressure.

“You have to credit Manchester United. We gifted them a goal, which is rare and painful, then they produced two brilliant moments with incredible goals. We were not at our best and paid the price,” said Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

TERRIBLE MISTAKE

Arsenal seemed in control after Lisandro Martinez’s own goal put them ahead in the 29th minute.

However, a costly error by Martin Zubimendi in the 37th minute allowed United to equalize through Bryan Mbeumo.

Dorgu’s volley in the 50th minute gave United the lead, but Arsenal fought back as substitute Mikel Merino scored from a corner. United’s Cunha then sealed the win with a stunning long-range strike.

Villa, who had earned just one point from their last two league games, bounced back with a win against Newcastle. Buendia’s early goal and Watkins’ late header secured the victory for Villa.

Forest responded to pressure with a win at Brentford, moving level on points with Leeds United in 16th place. Goals from Igor Jesus and Taiwo Awoniyi secured the three points for Forest.
