A young rapper described as “talented and sociable” has tragically lost his life after being shot in North Melbourne by a gunman who is currently at large.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, was discovered with gunshot wounds on Langford St around 3.15am on Saturday and unfortunately passed away at the scene.

While his identity has yet to be officially confirmed, Kot Monoah, chair of Victoria’s South Sudanese Community Association and a lawyer, spoke highly of the victim, labeling him as a “passionate” rapper with a promising future.

The community is rallying around the grieving family, offering support during this difficult time.

Victoria Police are urging any witnesses to come forward as they continue their investigation. Detective Acting Inspector Alan Rumble emphasized the importance of identifying all leads and providing assistance to the victim’s loved ones.

As the search for the shooter continues, extra officers have been deployed to patrol the area. The crime scene’s proximity to various establishments and transportation hubs has raised concerns among residents.

Mr. Monoah expressed his concerns about potential retaliation among friends of the victim but emphasized the importance of allowing the legal system to handle the situation.

Despite the challenges ahead, the community remains united in seeking justice for the young rapper and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.
