The call for the impeachment of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem is gaining traction following the tragic shooting of Renee Good by ICE agents, an event that has ignited a wave of anger and demands for accountability. The situation intensified after another American citizen was killed in Minneapolis, leading to a notable split among Republicans who are beginning to distance themselves from Trump.
The pressure is mounting on Trump to dismiss Noem, although Republicans have yet to publicly call for her resignation. What they are discussing behind closed doors remains unclear.

The political winds are shifting against Noem.
As House Democrats rally ahead of the midterm elections, they see a chance to do more than merely cut ICE funding. They are looking to hold the DHS accountable for its actions.
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, along with Democratic Whip Katherine Clark and Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar, issued a joint statement:
Taxpayer dollars are being misused by the Trump administration to take the lives of American citizens, harm communities, and violently target law-abiding immigrant families. The public is outraged by the actions of the Department of Homeland Security.
Republicans are preparing to shut down significant portions of the government this Friday, all to allow what they term a ‘killing spree’ by DHS to continue unchecked across the nation. This is fundamentally immoral.
Substantial reforms at the Department of Homeland Security are urgently needed. Federal agents who have operated outside the law must face criminal charges, and the use of paramilitary tactics must be halted. Taxpayer funds should serve to improve the lives of American citizens, not to inflict violence upon them.
The violence perpetrated against the American populace by the Department of Homeland Security must cease immediately. We demand the firing of Kristi Noem without delay, or we will initiate impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives.
Jeffries did not hold back, further criticizing Noem beyond the leadership’s official statement.
