By Rotation Partners with Uber for Same-Day Delivery of Ski Gear Rentals
By Rotation, a popular peer-to-peer fashion rental platform in the U.K., has recently announced a new partnership with ride-sharing app Uber. This collaboration aims to provide users with the convenience of renting outfits from their neighbors and having them delivered within 60 minutes via Uber, with a 10% discount until May 31. While the discount is available to all users, the service specifically targets ski gear renters, as 30% of ski renters on the platform seek same-day pickup.
Prior to this partnership, By Rotation had partnered with Airbnb to offer rental wedding outfits for guests attending destination weddings. This innovative collaboration reflects the platform’s commitment to meeting consumer needs and trends in the fashion industry. Ski clothing has gained popularity as a fashion statement, especially in Europe where skiing remains a popular pastime.
Founder and CEO of By Rotation, Eshita Kabra-Davies, stated that the partnership with Uber was a response to community feedback. Consumers appreciate the sustainability of renting clothing but also desire the speed and convenience of e-commerce. By enabling same-day delivery, the platform aims to address the logistical challenges that often accompany last-minute outfit needs, eliminating the need for panic purchases.
Kabra-Davies emphasized the shift from “fast fashion” to “slow fashion” through partnerships like Uber, promoting a more sustainable approach to clothing consumption. The sharing economy and circular economy have gained traction among young consumers seeking environmentally-friendly and cost-effective shopping alternatives.
When renting from local neighbors on the By Rotation app, users can opt for Uber Courier at checkout, where the 10% discount will automatically be applied. This partnership offers users the flexibility to choose quality and value over disposable garments, with the convenience of quick delivery.
Since its launch in 2019, By Rotation has grown into one of the world’s largest peer-to-peer rental platforms, with over 1 million users including notable figures like Ellie Goulding. The platform manages luxury inventory worth over $100 million and has expanded beyond fashion rentals. Kabra-Davies shared a success story of a lender who funded her IVF journey through wardrobe earnings, highlighting the platform’s impact beyond fashion.
Looking ahead, By Rotation aims to continue expanding globally, with launches in New York and plans for the UAE. Kabra-Davies envisions creating the world’s largest shared wardrobe and making the concept of a “rotating wardrobe” the norm in consumption practices worldwide.
