In an interview with Variety, Dano acknowledged Tarantino’s comments, revealing that he was initially surprised to hear the director’s harsh words. However, Dano expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he received from the industry following Tarantino’s remarks, describing the outpouring of encouragement as “really nice.” The actor went on to explain that he was thankful for the fact that others in the industry spoke up on his behalf, allowing him to focus on his work without being consumed by the negativity.

Tarantino’s criticism of Dano came during a recent episode of The Pure Cinema Podcast, where the director discussed his thoughts on There Will Be Blood and singled out Dano’s performance as a weak link in an otherwise stellar cast. While Dano did not directly address Tarantino’s remarks, his response highlighted the importance of support within the entertainment industry and the impact it can have on an artist’s confidence and well-being.

Despite the controversy surrounding Tarantino’s comments, Dano remains focused on his craft and is grateful for the opportunities he has had to work with talented filmmakers and actors throughout his career. As he continues to pursue challenging and diverse roles, Dano’s resilience and dedication to his craft serve as a testament to his talent and professionalism in the face of criticism. Quentin Tarantino’s recent remarks about actor Paul Dano’s performance in the 2007 film “There Will Be Blood” caused quite a stir in Hollywood. During an episode of The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast, Tarantino criticized Dano’s portrayal of twin brothers Eli and Paul Sunday, calling it “weak” and “uninteresting.” This comment sparked a wave of support for Dano from his colleagues and fans in the industry.

Dano, who initially remained silent in response to Tarantino’s comments, expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support he received. At a 20th-anniversary screening of “Little Miss Sunshine” at the Sundance Film Festival, Dano avoided directly addressing Tarantino but acknowledged the positive response he received. Stars like Toni Collette, Ben Stiller, Reese Witherspoon, and George Clooney praised Dano’s talent and character, while “Little Miss Sunshine” directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris criticized Tarantino’s remarks, calling them an “embarrassment” and highlighting Dano’s widespread respect within the industry.

In a separate development, Senegal’s head coach Pape Thiaw faced disciplinary action from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco. Thiaw was handed a five-match ban and a $100,000 fine for his role in instructing his players to leave the pitch in protest of a controversial penalty decision during the final. The incident caused a delay in the match, which Senegal eventually won 1-0 after extra time.

CAF also imposed sanctions on Senegal forwards Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr, as well as the Senegal Football Federation, for breaches of its disciplinary code and supporter misconduct. Morocco players Ismael Saibari and Achraf Hakimi also received bans for their involvement in the incident. Despite the sanctions, CAF confirmed that the results of the final would stand and that the penalties would only apply to CAF competitions.

Overall, these events have sparked conversations and debates within the entertainment industry and the world of sports, highlighting the importance of respect and professionalism in both fields. The support for Paul Dano and the disciplinary actions taken by CAF serve as reminders of the values and standards upheld by those in the spotlight.
