D’angelo Moore (Chicago Police Department)

Man Sentenced to Seven Years for Robbing and Shooting Women in Logan Square

CHICAGO — D’Angelo Moore, a man accused of robbing two women in Logan Square with an accomplice who shot one of the victims, has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

The incident occurred in May 2023 when the two women, aged 29 and 26, were walking in the 1900 block of North Spaulding. They encountered two men sitting on bikes, blocking the crosswalk at Cortland Street, according to prosecutors.

As the women continued walking, they heard demands for their purses from behind. The younger woman turned around to see a man in a red hoodie pointing a handgun at them. The gunman fired a shot, hitting the 26-year-old woman in her left calf. Both women fled the scene and sought refuge in a nearby apartment building.

The uninjured woman used her sweater to help stop the bleeding from the gunshot wound until police and EMS arrived.

Chicago police officers quickly located two men on bikes in the area. They were seen removing black latex gloves from their hands about two blocks away from the shooting scene, as per prosecutors.

Although both men tried to flee on their bikes, only D’Angelo Moore of Hazelcrest was apprehended. The other man, who fired the gun, managed to escape and has not been charged.

Moore, 23, reached a plea deal with prosecutors, admitting guilt to armed robbery without a firearm in exchange for the seven-year sentence handed down by Judge Timothy Joyce. Several more serious charges, including armed robbery with a firearm and aggravated battery by discharging a firearm, were dropped as part of the agreement.
